Position Title: Outreach and Program Coordinator

CEDAM’s AmeriCorps Information: CEDAM’s AmeriCorps program connects local and statewide agencies to meet neighbors’ critical needs. Members create community, build capacity, and serve neighbors across Michigan. Our AmeriCorps program advances equity for Michiganders in two key ways 1. Cultivating the next generation of leaders in the community economic development field and 2. Supporting economic inclusion for Michiganders.

Responsibilities:

CEDAM’s AmeriCorps

  • Participate in CEDAM AmeriCorps monthly meetings, training, events, data collection, reporting, and additional items as needed.
  • Participate in AmeriCorps & Michigan’s AmeriCorps events and training.

Community Engagement

  • Create new engagement opportunities to deepen the community’s connections with production content and Theatre
    • Develop and run talkback and feedback sessions after all Theatre productions
    • Create ways to obtain and track feedback from patrons and participants of all Matrix programming
    • Identify and research between 6-12 important community events for Matrix to seek participation in.
    • With additional Matrix Staff, construct at least 4 engagement events that tether directly to Matrix programming and Mission
  • Support current community engagement initiatives to gain insight into community need
    • Facilitate monthly Matrix Advisory Group meetings
    • Update and maintain Matrix’s Community Partner Database
    • Establish relationships with current partners and collaborators to assist in creating mutually beneficial programming
  • Represent Matrix and engage with the local community/neighborhood/theatre community at events

Volunteer Management

  • Coordinate volunteer events
  • Create ways and systems to recruit volunteers
  • Recruit volunteers
  • Create/update the volunteer database
  • Organize, train, supervise, and communicate with volunteers

Program Coordination

  • Assist in the coordination of family-friendly programming for the 2024-2025 fiscal year
  • Assist in the coordination of current and extended School of Theatre programming for youth and 18+
  • Assist with program tracking and record-keeping
    • Gathering photographic, demographic, audience, and program details and information for grant and non-profit reporting
    • Collecting satisfaction and testimonials from audience and program attendees
    • Organize and archive program content, material and assets
  • Assist with program recruiting and marketing
    • Seeking out connections in local schools for after-school and residency programs
    • Seek out possible after-school programming with community and neighborhood organizations
  • Ensure Matrix building is prepped and organized for all Matrix programming

  • Communication Skills; comfortable and punctual with phone, email, and interpersonal communication.
  • Enjoys working with people directly and consistently; and wants to work directly with people daily.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to be a team player; clear with needs and how best to be supported.
  • Punctual and good at meeting deadlines.
  • Responsible and organized
  • Flexible and Friendly; comfortable working with our neighbors, partners, and community.
  • Multi-lingual
  • Basic computer proficiency/database knowledge; Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and similar programs.
  • Gives Clear instructions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must have HS diploma, GED or working toward the completion of one.
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. national or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Pass the following National Service Criminal History Checks: State of Michigan background check, State of residency (if not Michigan), FBI Fingerprinting, and State & National Sex Offender Registry

Compensation:

Members will receive a living allowance of $26,000 distributed in even increments, bi-weekly. Members will receive student loan forbearance for qualified loans, health care package, childcare assistance upon eligibility, and continual professional development. Upon successful completion of service an education award in the amount of $7,395 will be issued. Members will serve 1,700 hours for the term = 40 hours/week.
